Looking back at French planes from 1912 on wards, with aviation advancing fast the French were leading, they were faster than anyone else, and enthusiast Jacques Schneider wanted to keep France ahead of all over countries.
With international travel on the way Schneider decided to use the Seaplane, he encouraged to race with prizes up for grabs. The prize was the Schneider Trophy, with plenty of excitement for the 12 events that followed. Coincidentally France only won the first competition in 1913, with Italy, USA and Britain winning, with Britain coming out outright winners with victories in 1927, 1929 and 1931.
To show how much the planes changed in that 18 years the first seaplanes traveled at a quick 60mph, but the last plane to win the Super marine S6b traveled at 340mph, with the race watch by 1.5 million on beach
