The history of Chessington 2018

September 2017 was the end of Peeking Heights and Dragon Falls as we know it, as it was announced Tiger Rock would be the new name for Dragon Falls located in the re-branded area Land of the Tigers. See the closure pictures of the old Mystic East and Dragon Falls here.

4 new Amur Tigers have been added to the new land, with new enclosures built in and around the old Peeking Heights site and flume drop. They are also home to the 2 Tigers currently on park which will stay in Trail of the Kings. The Land of the Tigers features a European first encounter of Tigers walking over head and breathes new life into the parks oldest area. In the same area Tiger Bites and shop is new opposite the ride entrance, with Tiger Treats replacing donuts down by the Budda.

Wanyama Village has had new signage upgrades for 2018 with fresh, colourful and more information added.

One height and restriction change for this year was on the new Adventure Tree Carousel, which has gone from under 1.1 metre to be accompanied to 1.3 metre accompanied and over 16.

The old Mexicana food outlet which shut last year is replaced by Not Dogs although only for one year. Griffins Galleons area has undergone a clean and re-paint, including the squirting dragon. The Hocus Pocus Hall sign has finally been repaired and rebuilt with this being the first season the pond in Africa has been replaced with grass.

The new show for 2018 is the Gruffalo Groove in the Gruffalo Arena, with Pandemonium now only a Summer holiday attraction. Hocus Pocus Hall continues to have no glasses feature, with the pre-show now dubbed over to not include the glasses speech.

This is also the last year of the “Wild Asia” sign, which disappeared yet to be re-installed.
