The history of Chessington 2015
2015 is Year of the Penguins at Chessington.
This year the park have introduced some Penguin themed attractions to the park, firstly with the all new Penguin enclosure replacing the old Penguin Cove. Featuring the a new walk through the enclosure is larger in size and allows the Humboldt Penguins to have more space along with a better experience for the visitor.
With the success of the Madagascar Prepare to Party show in 2012 comes an all new show in Penguins of Madagascar Live: Operation Cheezy Dibbles, located on the Africa stage this new show goes hand in hand with the Penguin theme for the year.
In addition to this, the Jungle Bouncers which was only re-themed in 2012 for the new area Africa, has undergone another re-theme to fit in with the Penguins theme. It is now called Penguins of Madagascar Operation: Treetop Hoppers to fit in with the Penguins of Madagascar theme.
Rameses Revenge has had its once huge entrance now removed, along with the walk bridge around Forbidden Kingdom. The new entrance is now located at the bottom of the old stairs by the shop, saving a huge walk when the ride is quiet.
The Vampire has had a few changes over the close season, after opening late and on single train operation a few new signs have been put up in the queue line, with the removal of the old Forbidden Tomb theme parts which didn’t fit. The entrance area has been stripped back with some new wood appearing and in addition the Chandeliers have been removed from the station (currently in storage in the back area)
Quite a few updates across the park with Kobra receiving some new fencing, along with new fencing in Wanyama Village to add mesh. Over at Dragon Falls the station area has had a re-paint whilst at Dragon’s Fury a new entrance for fast track has been added directly into the station and at Scorpion Express light lanterns have been added to the sign. Across the park new LED signage (scrolling) has been added to the parks main attractions with themed covers around them.
The Hot Dogs of Market Square has had a refit, with the internal counter changing and extending across the whole inside of the door area. In addition the Fish and Chips shop shut in late April for a complete refurbishment, re-opening in late July as Captains Fish and Chips it has seen an extension to allow indoor seating.
