The history of Chessington 2007
2007 saw Chessington’s biggest investment in many years, with the summer opening of the new Safari Lodge Hotel backing onto Chessington Zoo in the park.
Very few things have changed in 2007, the major one is the re-name of Animal Land into Chessington Zoo, going back to its roots. However the only new animals for 2007 were the farm animals from Thorpe Park and this has also meant a new sign for the Children’s Zoo.
Jump in Juices has been removed from the outside of Beanoland and replaced with a game stall. In fact there are so many game stalls new, there not worth the mention.
Various new signs around the park, including in Mexicana, which has also seen the Virtual Reality Centre removed. Hocus Pocus Hall has had paint touch up’s inside, Rameses Revenge received new seats changing the ride to yellow instead of white. Black Buccaneer had its air gates removed for 2007, with just a platform to board the ride.
Advertised late in the year was the new Sea Life Centre, opening where the Children’s Zoo sits in 2008. Also worth noting that in an attempt to reduce litter, park maps were now 50p.
