Chessington History 2006

2006 saw the classic Professor Burps Bubble Works be turned into the New Imperial Leather Bubble Works, Now to actually be featured around bubbles. The new ride is in many eyes, no where near what was expected as fun and entertaining, however your experience may vary.

Also new for 2006 is the Monkey and Bird Gardens, a make over of Monkey Walk. The new much cleaner area was to prove much more interactive to the visiting guests especially with new Squirrel Monkey walk through opening, getting you closer than ever to the animals.

In addition new for the Zoo side in 2006 was Creature Features, not opening until the summer the area is house to some new animals, in the Rhea and Wallaby to name two. It also provided a new enclosure for the Meerkats. The area is at the back of Monkey and Bird Gardens, this area at the time was also rumored to be the new site for the Trail of the Kings when the Safari Lodge is complete. However in 2013 proved to be home of ZUFARI.

The big news is the mention, and start of construction of the new Safari Hotel set to open in 2007. Also this year the families come first slogan has been replaced by Share the adventure. 2006 also saw the first year Hocus Pocus Halloween was really changed, with Star Wars featured, it was meet by a mixed reaction and with decoration included, was maybe Chessington’s worst Halloween.
