The history of Chessington 1996
1996 saw a lot less investment in the park, which to be honest was hardly surprising considering the massive amounts spent on the theme and rides in 1995.
That’s not to say there was nothing new for 1996, although the new attraction was small in comparison to 1995 and the park used an existing ride as the main advert.
Rodeo was the highlight of the 1996 map and although it moved in 1995, it wasn’t at all advertised that year, to be fair it would have been over-shadowed by Rameses Revenge. So after a year and the popularity of the ride had increased Rodeo was to be the main focus of Calamity Canyon for 1996, especially with its total make over making it looks new not just an old ride from Circus World.
The only actual new ride for 1996 was The Carousel, which remained at the park for some years being removed from a different location. The installation of the Carousel came right by the park’s North entrance, which to many was considered an odd place to put the ride as it was all on its own. Only fitting was the fact that it was in front of the Circus.
