Chessington History 2024

After a large investment in 2023, 2024 looked to continue the re-fresh of exsisting rides at the park, either in the form of mechanically, or in presentation.

Starting with Tomb Blaster, which not only had works done behind the scenes, was also visually changed in the queue line area, and a re-paint of the exteria graphics. This was also the case in and around the Rainforest, with the entrance and wall graphics.

Larger upgrades included the finishing work to Sea Storm. This came in the form of a new control system and cabin for the ride, with the ride cycle also enhanced for the new season. Tiny Truckers also has undergone a large upgrade, with the cars, theme and entrance area all changed. The Adventure Tree Carousel was also brought back to colour, with a complete paint during the close season. This was enhanced by the new colour scheme of Adventure Point and the buildings. This exteneded to the toilet block by Land of the Dragons, refreshed and with a new side painting and entrance closer to World of Jumanji added for the season.

Smaller details include the Vampire station with the reintroduction of new chandeliers and more flooring works taking place around Shipwreck Coast.

Both of the parks show stages were upgraded for the season, with the Mane Stage being replaced and themed to an all year round show, Seatopia. The mini stage was also upgraded to be much larger with shows also continuing through out the season.

Animal changes continue, with the Bush Dogs removed, and a move around in Trail of the Kings. The Lions also had additional fences added to keep guests away from the glass. The seating area was also removed from Adventure Point, which is likely to help the stage building.

The old Room on a Broom experienced is replaced with a Gruffalo Meet and Greet, celebrating the anniversary of the Gruffalo opening in July.

Scorpion Express remains SBNO for the 2024 season, whilst down in Mexicana another new restaurant moves in, Mexi-co replace tacotaria. Continuing with food, and refresh for both Ben and Jerrys and the Sweet Shop in Adventure Point also took place. 2024 also saw the removal of the Room on a Broom interactive experience.

Dirty Fires outlet was finally removed for this year, after not seeing it open for quite a period, however one of the portable food vans did take up some of the options.
