Howloween returned to Chessington for 2016 with 2 maze additions in Curse of the Lost Tomb and Trick or Treat wood. Based on previous years these two mazes were aimed at completely different ages of children with this year being no different. Trick or Treat woods is a small story trail with some participation from the family as you walk through either Trick or Treat, at the end you got a health bar (hardly a treat!)
Curse of the Lost Tomb was much more intense, with many young ones scared before even going inside! Once inside you have a host to guide you around again with many tasks to complete as a group from button pushing to standing on letters. It is much darker inside with a couple of small scares along the way, in our view perfect for the Chessington audience Trick or Treat was very much for the under 6’s yet the Curse of the Lost Tomb for the brave 8+. The area in which the park are missing in the real family adventure previously filled by the transformation of Hocus Pocus Hall. With the stage shows and dancing gone this felt a really poor Halloween in 2016 with not as much on as in previous years however on its merits was still fun.
Chessington have always been known for shows and entertainment and their is certainly hope 2017 will bring back some the energy which seemed to be lost this year.
